Aircraft and Aircraft parts are available through the 1033 Program. The LESO website is periodically updated to reflect the current availability of aircraft at https://www.drms.dla.mil/rtd03/leso/propsearch.shtml
An Aircraft Request/Justification Form is required for agencies seeking to obtain an aircraft. A separate Aircraft Parts Request/Justification Form is required for agencies seeking to obtain aircraft parts. These forms must be mailed or e-mailed to the State Coordinator for review and approval. Please refer to the State Plan of Operation Section 6.2 for comprehensive guidelines. The Law Enforcement Agency (LEA) is responsible for meeting all applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards of airworthiness, registration, maintenance, operations and training requirements and all other regulations for the aircraft as outlined in Section 6.2 of the State Plan of Operation. LEAs must ensure that aircraft and components are maintained in accordance with applicable airworthiness standards and procedures for maintenance and repair and that the LEAs perpetuate repair and maintenance documentation.
LEAs must assure that the aircraft is in a flyable condition in compliance with all applicable Code of Federal Regulations (CFR 14 and 49), FAA rules and regulations using Part 27, 43, 65, and 91, as standard.
