GIVE Bidders Conference February 18, 2013

On February 18, 2014 the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services hosted a conference for all participating agencies that are eligible for funding through the Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) Initiative. GIVE will help local law enforcement implement strategies that have been demonstrated to reduce gun violence- focusing on the small numbers of people and places that are responsible for the majority of such violence and engaging communities to ensure buy-in and support. GIVE will build on the success of Operation IMPACT but focus exclusively on shootings and homicides. All jurisdictions eligible for funding under IMPACT are eligible for funding under GIVE.  GIVE will reduce shootings and homicides by promoting integrated, evidence-based strategies that include the four core elements of people, places, alignment, and engagement.

Presenters at the Conference included the foremost experts in the development of evidence-based strategies required as part of the GIVE Initiative, along with technical assistance from staff from the various offices within DCJS.

DCJS anticipates that agencies will need to reference portions of the conference while drafting their RFA submissions. A separate link to each of the conference presentations can be found below, allowing agencies to reference specific presentations. DCJS is also providing a PDF packet of the conferences materials, including all presentations and handouts, for you as an additional resource.
